PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS
There will be on-site workshops being held on Monday, 2nd December. Tickets are essential and can be booked as add-ons during the registration process.
Please note that these workshops are running concurrently and you can only choose one to attend.
Taxonomy Workshop | $40
1:00 PM - 5:00PM
Albury Entertainment Centre
The taxonomic workshop will offer hands-on experience with identifying Australian aquatic invertebrates. Join us as we work through the key taxonomic groups and learn the characteristics that enable us to identify macroinvertebrates to family and/or beyond. Depending on demand, we may focus on specific groups to identify down to the lowest possible level.
During the workshop you will have access to microscopes, taxonomic keys and specimens. Experts in taxonomy and macroinvertebrate identification will guide you through the process of identifying aquatic macroinvertebrates.
Please send suggestions for particular focus groups to Michael Shackelton on Michael.shackleton@latrobe.edu.au
R Workshop | $20
2:00 PM - 4:00PM
Albury Entertainment Centre
This workshop intends to introduce and discuss the considerations and application of time series analysis to ecological data. In ecological research we often ask questions that aim to investigate temporal behaviour of a process which requires repeated measures of a sampling unit (site or individual). This workshop will cover the analytical considerations for both high frequency and long-term experimental designs by providing datasets and Markdown script to participants (Students will be given priority to attend this workshop).
There is an assumption that participants will have an entry level understanding of statistical analysis in R, will bring their own laptop and have R & R Studio and appropriate packages (included in script) installed prior to the workshop.
