Apple Prize
It has become tradition at the end of each conference that AFSS student delegates vote for the most inspirational presentation by a non-student delegate. This award recognises the contribution of professionals, in any field and from any level of experience, to the career development and research journey of students by giving great talks, sharing experiences, showing interest in student work, offering feedback and building and maintaining connections. The award was initiated by students at the 2005 conference in Hobart (known then as ASL). The prize itself started life as an actual carved apple, as the apple browned and shrivelled over time it was replaced with the plaque you see below, and recently, a keepsake 3D Apple Puzzle and certificate have been added.
